Shuck Me Kitchen & Cantina Information

Tucked along the scenic stretch of Hochatown near Broken Bow, Shuck Me Kitchen & Cantina feels like the kind of place you stumble into once and then keep coming back to every time you’re in the area. Located at Shuck Me Kitchen & Cantina, it’s right in the middle of the action but still manages to keep a relaxed, easygoing vibe that fits perfectly with a weekend getaway.

The menu leans heavily into coastal-inspired flavors with a Tex-Mex twist, and it does a surprisingly good job balancing both. The oysters are a clear highlight-fresh, briny, and served in a variety of styles that make it hard to pick just one. Grilled, fried, or raw, they’re the kind of dish that keeps the table quiet for a moment because everyone’s too busy enjoying them. Beyond seafood, the tacos and loaded nachos hold their own, with generous portions and bold seasoning that doesn’t feel overdone.

What stands out just as much as the food is the atmosphere. It’s lively without being overwhelming, with a mix of locals and visitors that gives it a friendly, social energy. On a busy evening, you might wait a bit for a table, but the staff keeps things moving and stays attentive even when the place fills up. Service feels genuinely welcoming rather than rushed, which makes a difference when you’re settling in for a full meal.

Drinks are another strong point, especially if you’re into margaritas. They’re well-balanced, not overly sweet, and pair perfectly with the menu’s flavors. There’s also a decent beer selection, which works well if you’re just stopping in after a day at Broken Bow Lake or Beavers Bend State Park.

From a reviewer’s perspective, what makes this spot memorable isn’t just one standout dish but the overall experience. The combination of flavorful food, a casual yet energetic setting, and consistent service creates a place that feels reliable without being boring. While it can get crowded during peak travel seasons, that’s also a testament to its popularity, and it rarely feels like quality drops because of it.

It’s the kind of restaurant where you can show up in hiking clothes, order a round of oysters and tacos, sip on a margarita, and feel completely at ease, whether it’s your first visit or your fifth.

What People's Say About Place

It’s hard to not say anything but good things about this place! I can say my friends and I throughly enjoyed our experience here. The line was long, but we had drinks while we waited and it did not take long for our food to come out… well for most of us at least. My friend ordered the half shrimp, half crab legs and it took about an hour to come out. And that would be OK, but they did not inform us of the long wait when we ordered. Again, all the other food came out quick, but being careful when ordering anything boiled. I just wish they would’ve been more transparent about the wait times for boiled food so that is why I dock a star.

We got the catfish and shrimp, along with the crab boil. The shrimp was pretty good. The catfish was good. The frys were semi cold. The crab clusters were pretty small, and it was hard to get the meat out. The lobster chowder had an odd texture and wasn't very good. The atmosphere overall was casual, not romantic.

This place was great! Yes, it was expensive, but their prices are online and we actually spent less than we expected to. The fries are perfect and the burgers were amazing. My husband got the shrimp and crawfish etouffee and he said it was the best thing he's ever eaten. Don't be afraid of the frog legs, as they were the best I've ever had! We also got the oysters "rock a fella" and it was divine! The bartender out on the patio was the nicest gentleman and his drinks were top notch! We'll definitely find ourselves back here next time we're in Broken Bow!

We went on Monday food was great service was good nice atmosphere we went back on Saturday give you plenty of food

My partner is a Florida coastal guy and he absolutely loved it. Said it reminded him of small fish shacks he grew up going to. The Mexican shrimp cocktail, fried shrimp and oysters, baked grouper, grilled oysters and lobster mac were perfect. Thank you for the lovely dinner, we will be back!

Stopped in for a quick dinner. Huge dining area inside. You order at the counter and then go grab a seat, you'll have a buzzer with you for when food is ready. Food is hot and fresh! Everything we ordered was delicious! My absolute only gripe would be that the coleslaw was heavy on the mayo and needed more flavor. But the catfish, shrimp, fries, hushpuppies, and lobster Mac were perfect! We went back up and ordered a bread pudding to go. Yum! It does get very busy, but the floor staff is QUICK to keep everything clean. I even saw someone hand mop under a booth.

Service is friendly and food comes out fast. We walked into a longer line but ended up not waiting long. - Crab legs were a bit dry / small but the butter was tasty and they seemed fresh. - They nailed the Steamed shrimp w/ garlic butter, favorite dish of the table w/ boiled eggs/sausage/corn. - Fried catfish was hot & fresh, crispy on the outside. Fried okra was good, and crispy. Best fried okra in town. - lobster chowder was rich, if you like a lot of flavor and seasoning this is a dish for you. & it’s house made so big plus. We shared this between 3 people. - fried jalapeño chips were good to snack on between main dishes. Crispy & lightly battered. Live music on Saturday nights, self serve sauces, lots of cold beer choices. Overall a great place for a small town casual relaxed meal. Lots of kids and families. We ultimately hope they re-fresh some of the dishes & add a new flavor or seasoning here & there. Has been a god spot for a long time. Maybe about time for a lift. Hope to return soon.

The food is fantastic as always. It is very fresh and there is big portions. You will not be disappointed!
